Salaam I am Jannah. I’m a proud Kurd Feyil and Shia. I love Allah, the prophets and imams. I will be retelling the story of Sayyida Zaynab through her eyes. I will be mentioning the deaths of ahlul al kisa. I will then be talking about Karbala and her bond with al-Abbas and imam al Hussain.
I am Zaynab, daughter of Imam Ali and Sayyida Fatima, the granddaughter of the prophet Muhammad, the sister of al Hassan and Hussain. I’m the 6 year old that fed the prophet as he grew ill and died. I’m the 6 year old that yelled as my mother bled out after getting crushed by a door and died. I’m the 35 year old who held her father’s hand as he weeped in pain from the poison seeping in. I’m the 45 year old that took care of my poisoned brother al Hassan as he died.
I was 21 when Abbas was born. I helped rise him to be a strong man so when Hussain returned with no Abbas my heart fell apart. He didn’t look into my eyes until I asked “Where is Abbas?”.
He pointed to his back but his eyes told me why. Abbas was ashamed of me before he died. When Hussain was killed the sky turned red, it was silent but then my heart shattering filled the battlefield. I yelled out “Say my salaams to my family ya Hussain”. He was the one who shared my grief.
Zaynab lost everyone she loved yet all this pain made her bond with Allah stronger. We should aspire to have the same bond she has with Allah and to remember that we can lose our family at anytime, so don’t take them for granted.
