In December 2015 for a second year in row over 30 IUS Aid volunteers embarked on IUS Aid’s Annual Arbaeen Mission to Iraq. This was a memorable and spiritually uplifting journey of visitation, which combined the ziyarah experience, with IUS Aid’s charitable ventures. The team worked hard in fundraising £24,000 in financial aid for Iraqi Orphans, as well as delivering gift hampers to over 120 families in 4 Iraq cities of Najaf, Karbala, Kadhmiya, and Hilla. The highlight of the trip included visiting all the infallibles in Iraq, meeting eminent scholars in particular Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmadi Safi and the management of the shrine of Al-Abbas (as), working with local charities in Iraqi cities, sharing precious moments with the orphans, as well as doing the full walk from Najaf to Karbala. Any challenges and struggles during the way were a reminder of the challenges the Ahlulbayt faced. The journey was a great learning experience, allowing the team members to grow and develop. We hope that Allah may accept the little we do.
