Whether it’s in a professional career setting or simply your younger sibling, cousin or nephew/niece, being a mentor is a truly rewarding experience that can help a developing young person achieve their true potential, and lets you give back to the community by sharing your experiences and skills.

Join this unique half-day workshop to learn essential skills on how to be an effective mentor, as well as discover opportunities to be a mentor for talented 16-18 year old students as part of the Allamah Tabataba’i Award (www.ataward.co.uk) mentoring scheme.

Facilitators:

Hassan Joudi is the Deputy Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, the UK’s largest and most diverse national Muslim umbrella body. Hassan believes passionately in the role of young Muslims as a driving force for positive change in society in Britain today. He works as a Chartered Mechanical Engineer in the energy sector.

Dr Masuma Jaffer is a qualified dentist, with a Masters in Islamic Studies and has also attended Hawza in Qum, Iran. She obtained a PGCE teaching qualification and has taught Hawza studies at the Islamic College in London. She also has a Diploma in Counselling and is a Qualified Chaplain with experience of working with women in prisons.

This workshop is the first of a series of workshops by The Paradigm Shift (www.theparadigmshift.org.uk) organised by the Islamic Unity Society and Dar Al-Islam Foundation, and is in collaboration with the Allamah Tabataba’i Award (www.ataward.co.uk)
