This year IUS collaborated with CampUK in August to host the 2018 summer camp.
The camp took place in the beautiful landscape of Shrewsbury, at CondoverHall. A residential activity centre full of on site activities and picturesque gardens.
The programme consisted of a range of summer activities including kayaking, rock climbing, archery, fencing, fitness training and many more. The activities catered to all ages, from as young as toddlers up to the seniors, with workshops themed around mind, body and soul.
IUS delivered a couple of presentations, one of which was a workshop for teenagers around preparing for university life. This was delivered by Br Ali Jaffery of IUS Aid and Br Aimen Al-Diwani (Vice-chair). The camp had a great lineup of speakers ranging from world renowned Sheikhs to top class professionals. Topics varied from social problems such as the upbringing of children in this current time, mental health and how to improve it as well deep rooted religious beliefs and how we understand them.
Dr Ehsan Rangiha, Chairman of IUS, was also in attendance but in a lecturing capacity where he ran multiple workshops on analysis of Nahjul Balagha.
We were given a significant discount to the camp and as a first time visit for a few of the IUS team, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay and can recommend it to be a great adventure for all ages amongst families.
We are grateful to collaborate with CampUK and inshallah we plan to continue with the collaboration next year and be more involved so that we see a greater uptake of young professionals and IUS volunteers attending the camp.
