Bibi Sakina AS (Anonymous)

14Oct 2022

Bismillah al Rahman al Raheem
Innallaha wa malaaikatu yusalluna Alan nabi ya ayyuhal ladhina aamanu Sallu alayhi wa sallimhu tasleemah. (Salawat)
Salaamun Alaykum Shk. Aunty Maya and all my Husayni friends.
InshAllah today I would like to talk about Bibi Sakina’s courage and bravery.
Allah says in the Qur’an Sura Yunus verse 62-” indeed the friend of Allah for them there is no fear nor shall they have sadness.”
Bibi Sakina (a) is the daughter of Imam Husayn and Umm Rabab (peace be with them both. She had a baby brother called Ali Asghar. Imam Husayn loved her with all his heart. She would sleep on his chest every night.
In karbala, she was thirsty like all the other children and her uncle Abul Fadl Abbas (as) went to get water but he never came back.

On the day of Ashura, bibi’s brothers, cousins, uncles, her beloved father and even her baby brother were all martyred. She had promised her father to be brave like them all especially like him.
She was treated badly after her father was killed. Her clothes were burnt, her earrings pulled, she was slapped and beaten, she was hungry, thirsty, hurt and she looked for her father’s chest to rest on.
She continued to be brave like her father, uncles and her grandfather Imam Ali(as) all the way to Shaam where she died and finally got to rest.
How was she so brave? What is the secret?
She knew that Allah was with her wherever she went. He was watching over her and He knew everything. She loved Allah the most and she knew that He loves her too. Yes, what the bad people did caused them pain and suffering but they carried on turning their faces to Allah. They would say like in the Qur’an: “My prayers, my sacrifice, my life and my death are for Allah, the Lord of the Universe.”
When I have pain and some difficulty, I try and remember Bibi Sakina’s bravery and patience. It always helps to remind me that Allah is always with me and I would like to be like her InshAllah.
Thank you for listening to me.
SALAAMUN ALAYKUM.
